L. Jane Rutherford, BA, L.L.B graduated from McMaster University with an Honours BA in Economics and Geography in 1971, and from University of Toronto Law School in 1976.
She was appointed clerk to the High Court of Justice in 1978.
Ms Rutherford practised for nine years with Laxton, Glass, & Swartz in Toronto before joining Howell Fleming LLP in 1989. She became a partner in 1993.
Her Family Law practice comprises all areas of family law including custody, access, child and spousal support, property issues, separation, marriage and cohabitation agreements.
She was a licensee for private adoptions and was a member of the Children's Lawyer Panel for many years.
She also practises in the areas of civil and estates litigation, wills and estates administration.
She is a past president and currently is on the executive committee of the Peterborough Law Association. She co-chaired the Peterborough Law Association. She co-chaired the Peterborough Implementation Committee for the Unified Family Court. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Peterborough Youth services.
